Too many homeowners are “house rich, cash poor.” For EU elderly, built-up housing equity accounts for OVER 80% of personal wealth. But they have no fair, efficient way to draw on it — leading to an epidemic of “hidden poverty” due to rising living costs.
Current “solutions” such as lifetime/reverse mortgages and (partial) sale/leasebacks do not serve the needs of European elderly. These traditional models offer unfair terms like low LTVs, high interest rates, the stress of new debt, and even the risk of home foreclosure (if payment obligations are not met). NestEgg has talked with more than 400 elderly homeowners who confirmed these home-equity difficulties. More than 70% are now active in their customer pipeline.
NestEgg’s FinTech platform connects elderly homeowners with interested equity investors. Homeowners get the cash they need, when they need it, so they can enjoy their golden years without the worry of added debt or ongoing payments. The equity investors get to make a positive social impact while generating high returns through a new asset class of “OORECA” (owner-occupied real estate capital), blending the lower risk of REITs with the higher returns of direct property management.
